  • Do you think you are (or you would be) a better parent than your own parents? Why or why not?

Picture 049 In my opinion, yes. I think I'd be a just as good a parent as mine are, or even better, because I've experienced their parenting, being a child myself. I know the things they do that bug me, and that could be improved upon. I also see the result of their parenting: myself. I turned out just fine, and I can take what they do and learn from it, to better my parenting skills and in the end, be the best parent for my children that is possible. From what I've seen, parenting is not an easy job, and can be frustrating. But if I keep my eyes on God and let him lead me and my instincts, I'm positive that I'll do a great job as a parent. His word is my guide as I go through life, and I've no plans of changing that when it comes to leading my children on the best path in life.

It was an exciting week(6/14-6/21) in Wyoming when workcampers flocked to the Arapaho Indian Reservation to serve the occupants in love. The theme "Love Out Loud" encouraged campers to love others in many different ways.

Love Out Loud Risks- Take a risk for God and be outgoing in serving others and showing His love through your actions. This included going out of your comfort zone. Most workcampers met their "resident" the first day and examined the work that needed to be seen to at their worksites. Crews, groups consisting of 5 to 6 campers, were each assigned to a different worksite. Jobs were given to each crew that could be completed in the given week. Crew selection was random, so campers began the week working with entire strangers. As the week progressed, many grew close.

Love Out Loud Serves- The second day, seemingly the hardest, was deemed the challenge of serving others through love. Workcampers were to serve their resident and others to show God's love for everyone.

Love Out Loud Multiplies- Many friends are made and relationships develop. God's love is multiplying! As jobs on the worksites show sign of completion, workcampers become excited as they begin to see results in their work.

Love Out Loud Forgives- As the week nears it's conclusion, workcampers see God's love all around them and examine themselves. They realize that God forgives, and they should as well. Stones collected at the worksites, representing the sin in everyone, are cast away at the evening program to symbolize that God forgives.

Love Out Loud Last- The final day has finally come! Some crews have completed their assignments and celebrate in the victory. These last hours are used for spending time with their resident or helping other crews who haven't quite wrapped up. If a crew finishes early they are asked to call in to the camp office to see if there is help needed elsewhere. As the evening program ends and crews say their last goodbyes to their residents, a special bond is made. Phone numbers and emails are exchanged. Workcampers leave with a sense of satisfaction and a renewed trust in God.

  • Where were you one year ago today?

One year ago, I was quite confused. I had not been baptized, but knew that I wanted to be. I'd gone to church camp for the year, and that had been my second time attending. I began attending a church that I felt would be more fulfilling than my previous one.

A little less than a year later, I was baptized, and my life has changed dramatically. Daily, I feel the difference between then and now. I thank God everyday for the blessings He has bestowed upon me. Without Him I would be nothing. ♥
